Mission
Our mission is to advocate for EGSD students to experience a superb and enriching educational experience that facilitates academic success in alignment with social and emotional well-being despite challenges facing the district and community.
|
VisionOur vision is to compel the EG School Committee and Administration to reclaim the purpose of their charge to identify the educational needs in the community and develop educational policies to meet the needs of our community.
|
StrategyOur strategy is to unify families with the shared experience of concern that the district does not meet the educational obligations of their children academically, socially or emotionally. Utilizing the obligatory charge of our schools, we will align with the district’s strategic plan in an organized voice to demand innovative and courageous leadership while restoring pride to the high quality educational outcomes EGSD is historically known for.

Position Statement on the Current Situation
East Greenwich Schools have long been known for consistently being in the top 3 communities for public school education in Rhode Island. Many families are attracted to this community for this reason. Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen a precipitous decline in the quality of education our children are receiving, primarily due to a lack of sufficient in-person teaching at the middle and high school levels. At the beginning of the pandemic, little was known about the COVID-19 virus One year into the pandemic, there is an ever-increasing body of research regarding COVID-19 disease mitigation, treatment, and prevention. However, there has been no publicized plan to return our kids to school full-time since the current education practices were established in September 2020. While the timing of future changes to the current practices may not yet be known or even knowable, the Committee should nevertheless be compelled to share the objective metrics that, if and when achieved, would ensure less extreme precautionary measures. A clear understanding of the Committee’s position on these matters provides parents, the community, and the district to appropriately plan for a return to normal and, in the meantime, to have an informed conversation about the best ways to create a safe, educational, and emotionally beneficial environment for all EGSD students. It is clear that, for many students, the current educational environment is not meeting the high standards we expect from a top-tiered school district.
